Weightman Takes Out 2009 Australian XC Champs

It was hot racing conditions in Canberra over the weekend, as Lisa Weightman took out the Women’s 2009 Australian Cross Country Championships, over 8km.

As temperatures pushed towards 30 degrees, Lisa Weightman showed the rest of the field a clean set of heals, leading the event from start to finish in a superb performance.

The oppressive conditions meant that her time was half a minute slower than the time she won the same event in last year, however, it was clear that the heat did not effect Weightman to the same degree it effected some of her rivals.

Results: Women’s 8km Australian XC Champs

1st    Lisa Weightman                   27 min, 42 sec
2nd   Erin Densham                      28 min, 17 sec
3rd    Tara Palm                              28 min, 20 sec
